If someone were to ask you, "Are you 100% sure you would go to Heaven when you die?", how would YOU respond?  Would you say you are 50% sure...75% sure?  How sure are you?  The bible clearly states that we can know with certainty whether or not we are saved.  I John 5:13 tells us, "These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God."

While there is much debate on the subject of heaven, hell and who goes where, it is important to consider what the bible has to say about the subject.

First, we must recognize... All men are sinners.  Romans 3:23 says "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God."  If we have ever told a lie, had hatred in our heart toward another person, used unkind words, wanted what another person has, etc; we have sinned.

Second, we must recognize... Because of our sin we are dead, spiritually.  In Ephesians 2:1, the bible speaks how a person is spiritually dead when they have no personal relationship with Christ.  It is because of this spiritual condition that a person is separated from God and deserves to go to hell.

Third, we must recognize... There is nothing we can do to change our spiritual condition.  Ephesians 2:8-9 tells us "For by grace are you save through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast."  You and I can never be good enough to gain salvation.  A person can never be religious enough to gain salvation.  We cannot change our spiritual condition.

Fourth, we must recognize... Salvation can only come through Christ.  John 14:6 records the words of Christ and He declared: "I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."  The bible is clear that there is only one way a person can be saved and go to heaven when they die, and that is if they have placed their faith in Christ.

Fifth, we must recognize... ANYONE can be saved.  Romans 10:13 says "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."  It does not matter what sins have been committed, what wrongs have been done; anyone can be saved.  All a person has to do, in order to be saved from hell, is call upon Christ, ask Him to save them, and He will.  It is because of this truth that scripture calls salvation a "gift".

Today, if you would have to admit that you have never placed your faith in Jesus Christ, and Him alone, for your salvation, but would like to so that you can be saved, we encourage you to pray a prayer like this:

"God, today I recognize that I am a sinner.  I recognize there is nothing I can do to save myself.  I ask you to forgive me of my sins and save me so I can go to heaven when I die."

If you prayed that prayer and meant it, then you just got saved.  Because of that, we encourage you to contact our church and let us know about the decision you have made.  We would love to be of help to you as you continue through life as a believer and follower of God.
